Joshua Semprevivo is the lead singer of Black Detour, as well as the main lyricist. Joshua brings a heavily 90 s influenced style to the group. His main influence can be credited to Pearl Jam but also can be cited to 311, Rise Against, Foo Fighters, Bush and Bad Religion. The songs writen by Joshua mainly focus on events from his life dealing with love, loss, anger, fear and death of youth. All of his songs tend to be in the realm of social commentary and can easily be related to anyone's life.
Rich Johnson is the lead and rhythm guitar player in Black Detour. Influenced heavily by Slash, Joe Perry, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, and Stevie Ray Vaughan, his heavy blues-rock style of lead and rhythm playing can be heard in each song. Rich has played in several other local bands, and has gigged all over Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia. No stranger to the studio either, he has lent his guitar work to several local original artists. Along with lead guitar, Rich writes a lot of the music to the Black Detour songs. Rich grew up in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania, and now lives near Pittsburgh International Airport.
Colt Logan plays bass in Black Detour. His influences include Flea, Fieldy, and Robert Trujillo. Colt's heavy and driving basslines provide the sturdy backbone behind every Black Detour song. Never one to remain "inside the box", Colt is known for taking what could be a potentially boring bassline and transforming it into something exciting, catchy, and rocking. He also contributes to the song writing process. With only one guitar player in the band, Colt finds himself not only locking in with Sam to help add the groove to each song, but also playing a more rhythmic bass underneath and complimenting Rich's leads. He is able to blend perfectly with both Sam and Rich. Colt resides in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania.
Samuel Macklin is the drummer for Black Detour. Sam and Colt are responsible for the rhythm section that drive every single Black Detour song. A New Kensington native, Sam spent most of his career as a professional chef in the Pittsburgh area, but has always had a passion for the drums. His drumming influences include Neil Peart, John Bonham, Buddy Rich and Animal. Musically, he finds inspiration in everything from classical to big-band and jazz to death metal. He has played in other local bands, but has made a permanent home with Black Detour.
